Joonbug link: Sweet Escape.
With the daily conquer of the hustle and bustle on the city streets, hectic schedules to fulfill and squeezing in quick coffee pick-ups; city-dwellers have an official relationship with the word “busy.” Every trendy urbanite deserves a sweet haven to retreat to on weekend afternoons, no schedules or agendas allowed.
Filled with absolute luxurious serenity, New York’s finest tea rooms provide just this—a sweet city escape. For those of you who are unacquainted with the afternoon tea culture, prepare to be amazed and delighted. This tranquil seduction must incorporate a few critical facets: tea sandwiches—both dainty and scrumptious, soft scones accompanied with the tastiest fruit jams, a pleasing variety of teas, an endless amount of sugary cakes and tarts, and of course, pretty tea cups topped to the brim. The delicate tea sandwiches and tiny delights are typically served on an elegant three tier tray, showcasing different levels of sugary enjoyment. Now…a spot of afternoon tea, anyone?

Clad in chic and lively décor, this is a tea parlor that both men and women savor. Featuring a variety of over one hundred ‘hand-sourced and blended fine loose leaf teas’ in addition to superlative macarons and pastries, Bosie knows how to put the tea in tasty. The trendy parlor is a perfect venue to enjoy morning or afternoon tea. To start off, their macarons are unreal and pair perfectly with a pot of tea. Sold individually, these heavenly treats are priced at $2.25 per macaron and flavors change seasonally—Chef Herrgott’s innovative creations. Dark Chocolate (63%), Chai Tea, Vanilla Cheesecake, Peanut Butter & Jelly, and Salted Caramel are just a few of the current twelve flavors. Other treats include moist European-style tea cakes, pastries such as the Pear and Walnut Tart and viennoiseries such as a Chocolate Chip Scone and soft Croissants that can be prepared with clotted cream and homemade jam (for $3.75).
The Bosie Tea Service is served per person ($27.00 for one and $51.00 to enjoy tea for two). This fun afternoon tea outing includes the works: a two-cup pot of tea of your choice, three flavors of tea sandwiches (six sandwich triangles), two mini scones with clotted cream and jam, two mini tea cakes and two macarons in your desired flavor choices. Bosie also offers a Champagne Tea Service, which incorporates the traditional Bosie Tea Service with an additional bubbly to mix in—a glass of Perrier-Jouët Brut Champagne is poured to relish, and instead of two mini tea cakes, you can choose a pastry from the display case. And as for the tea sandwich platters, we recommend the Smoked Salmon sandwich prepared with red onion, lemon zest, and cream cheese spread on pumpernickel bread. The quiches, salads and soups are also delightful options for lunch. If you like to sip a spot of tea in the morning, come to Bosie Tea Parlor for weekend brunch offered Saturday and Sunday from 11am until 3pm. The Brioche French Toast prepared with vanilla bean, berries, and blueberry preserves is superb.
Bosie Tea Parlor is located in the West Village at 10 Morton Street, New York NY 10014

The Victorian elegance displayed in the venue’s décor represents the tea salon’s unique charm. This hidden tearoom gem is located inside the Inn at Irving Place. Tea is served by an all-male wait staff, each cordially polished in refined white gloves. Being constantly rated “the best and most romantic Tea Salon in New York City” since opening, Lady Mendl’s is a great place to get together with the girls—catching up over fresh scones and hot tea, against an intimate, tasteful backdrop.
Lady Mendl knows how to work her tearoom with class. Each guest relishes a five-course afternoon tea, accommodating a wide variety of teas, a selection of tasty finger-sandwiches and freshly baked scones served with jams and clotted cream. The best part of this afternoon tea is how the courses are situated. The Dessert Course, served after the Third Course, includes Lady Mendl’s Signature Cake and is followed by the Fifth Course, which is an assortment of cookies and chocolate covered strawberries—completely heavenly and deliciously sinful. Courses of dessert followed by…more dessert! The five-course tea is served Monday through Friday (seatings from 3pm to 5pm ) and Saturday through Sunday (seatings at noon, 2:30pm, or 5pm ). Noon “Matinee” seating is offered on Wednesday and Friday. Reservations are required.
