Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series
This Friday, begin your weekend kickoff with a free concert…featuring John Legend! Good Morning America is at it again this hot summer with their free concert series, introducing an awesome lineup of artists. The concerts take place during live Good Morning America broadcasts from 7am to 9am. Central Park will be taken over by music, as fans sing along and dance to the beat. Swan Lake
The amazing word-class dancers of the American Ballet Theatre are back performing their sublime talent on The Metropolitan Opera stage. This Friday at 7:30pm to 9:55pm, Swan Lake is a beautiful classic that should not be missed! Girls & Boys at Webster Hall
“4 floors, 3,000 girls & boys,” is this hot spot’s motto. Keeping it trendy and classy, chic attire is required for this Friday night affair at Webster Hall. Hester Street Fair
The Hester Street Fair is all the rave on the Lower East Side. Setting up shop from 10am until 6pm on Saturdays, the street fair takes over the historical grounds of what was once the city’s biggest ‘pushcart market.’ Hester’s outdoor marketplace is the perfect place to find vintage clothing, jewelry and crafts, as NYC’s greatest vendors are called into play. Mermaid Parade in Coney Island
For those of you who don’t know a lot about mermaids, they can walk, talk and they know how to party! This Saturday, join in on the fun at Coney Island’s annual parade of sea creatures and bubbly mermaids, performers, antique cars, and floats. Jump into the summer right with some surf, sand and sun. The unique pageant showcases each participant’s expertise in mythology and whimsical clothing artistry. PUNK: Chaos to Couture
The Metropolitan Museum of Art meets punk…punk couture, that is. The Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibition highlights the history of punk clothing from its 1970 origins to its great impact on the modern fashion world. This Sunday afternoon, explore famous designers such as Gianni Versace, Christopher Kane, Karl Lagerfeld, Rei Kawakubo, Helmut Lang, and Vivienne Westwood that are featured in PUNK. Music videos from legendary punk bands including The Clash, The Ramones, and the Sex Pistols complement the clothes. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is located at Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street. HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival
Set up a cozy blanket under the stars, surrounded by the glimmer of NYC’s gorgeous high rise buildings. The HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival began on June 17th and lasts through the summer nights until August 19th. The screening of these free outdoor films, held in none other than the exquisite Bryant Park, is one of the awesome highlights of a city summer spent in the Big Apple. The films begin at dusk, but the lawn opens at 5pm, welcoming all to set up for a fun evening with a take-out picnic, a movie, and complete relaxation.
