The Sun-Dia, prepared at Yerba Buena Perry, is another luscious option to commemorate your tequila. Looking absolutely pretty in pink, this favorite drink dressed head to toe in watermelon, turns heads at the bar. Incorporating a Latin kick to its watermelon seduction, the drink is blended with Riazul tequila, St. Germain, watermelon, lime and jalapeño cordial.

Richard Sandoval’s Zengo and La Biblioteca like to get creative and fun with their tequila. Their Tequila Snow Cones are awesome treats to indulge in. Before the tequila comes into play, the fruits are first blended into syrup, and then streamed over shaved ice. If you are having an outdoor picnic or barbeque on Wednesday, these icy delights will be a huge hit and are simple crafts to DIY. Martha Stuart has the perfect recipe for “Margarita Syrup.”

Her ingredients are as follows:

6 cups sugar

1/3 cup lemon juice (from about 2 lemons)

3 tablespoons lime juice (from about 2 limes)

1/4 cup Cointreau

1/2 cup tequila

Crushed ice

Margarita Syrup Directions: Prepare a medium saucepan – bring 1 ½ cups of water (and the 6 cups of sugar) to a boil. Cook until all of the sugar is dissolved, which will take approximately one minute. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool down. Next, mix in the juices, tequila and Cointreau. Cover the syrup and refrigerate it until it is cold. Now comes the fun part – each margarita will consist of 2 tablespoons of delicious syrup poured over ½ cup of the crushed ice. Decorate them, and enjoy these spiked treats!

A must-try summery drink to serve at your National Tequila Day bash is another Martha Stuart specialty – the Honey Margarita Shot.

One last tequila recipe that will be a popular socialite at any Tequila Day party: Cinnamon Tamarind Margarita – sour, spicy and freshly rejuvenating all occupying one glass. This is the margarita for you if you love hints of cinnamon and a shy tang of orange sweetness.

Ingredients for the rim:
1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1/2 teaspoon cayenne

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice

Ingredients for Margarita:

3/4 ounce tamarind concentrate

2 ounces blanco or reposado tequila (100% agave)

1 ¼ ounce freshly squeezed lime juice

1/2 ounce simple syrup

1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lemon

1/4 ounce Cointreau

Ice

If desired, add a cinnamon stick for garnish

Cinnamon Tamarind Margarita Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix the salt, sugar, cayenne and cinnamon together. Next, pour the mixture into a saucer. On a separate saucer, pour 2 tablespoons of lime juice. Turn a serving glass of your choice – old fashioned or martini glass – in the lime juice for the outer rim’s coating. Lastly, spin the glass in the other saucepan – the cayenne blend – slowly rotating it for a successful coating.
  2. In a mixing glass, add the tequila, tamarind concentrate, lime and lemon juices, simple syrup and Cointreau. Next, fill with ice and shake it up well for approximately 30 seconds. Strain the mixture into your serving glass. If desired, add a cinnamon stick for a fun garnish.

Whether you’re doing it yourself this National Tequila Day, or going out on the town for drinks with friends, honor your tequila like it should be treated…and bottoms up!
