If you’re craving an authentic Southern Italian meal in the Bean, Antonio’s Cucina Italiano is like Grandma’s cozy kitchen on a Sunday afternoon – the pleasant aroma of a fresh pot of pomodoro sauce cooking and all!

Although Antonio’s is not in Boston’s North End – our city’s very own “Little Italy” – it is a quaint, intimate gem, located in the trendy northern Beacon Hill neighborhood.  It is one of Joonbug’s favorite spots to savor a delicious Italian meal, accompanied by friendly service and a fun, relaxing evening out on the town.  This charming Italian eatery is open for lunch, dinner and takeout.

Antonio’s is not on your typical tourist route, and that adds to the unique, exclusive feel of this venue.  The menu is everything you could possibly want when craving Italian home cooking, including freshly homemade pasta dishes, authentic meatballs lathered in sauce, and even some dished not seen in many Italian restaurants – including “house favorite,” the Chicken/Sausage with Vinegar Potatoes & Roasted Peppers.  This mouthwatering preparation is also Joonbug’s personal favorite; we found it to be magnificently delicious and loved how the restaurant included a traditional dish that is most certainly prepared in our ancestors’ kitchens on a weekly basis.

For appetizers, Antonio’s offers a tasty selection of hearty starters – from Sautéed Escarole (for a cold winter afternoon or evening) to Artichokes Principese and Stuffed Clams. Another dinner favorite is Antonio’s Homemade Fusili, which is served with your choice of marinara, pesto, garlic & oil or carbonara sauce (in addition to a topping of homemade meatballs).  The portions are huge, making for delicious leftovers to look forward to the next afternoon, and the prices are extremely reasonable.

When looking over the dinner entrees, you will find delicious choices like Eggplant Braciolitine, which is stuffed with creamy ricotta and topped with mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce.  If you want to stop by for lunch, a warm bowl of Tortellini Soup will make your afternoon complete.

Antonio’s is located at 288 Cambridge St, Boston, MA 02114
