2012 was a memorable year for London’s very own world-esteemed mixologist Alex Kratena, as he was bestowed the proud title of “International Bartender of the Year.” The evening of Tuesday, April 1st (commencing at 7pm) will be an extraordinary date for Bostonians, as Kratena will be guest bartending at The Langham, Boston’s eloquent BOND lounge & restaurant.
The talented mastermind will introduce a luscious menu of four “specialty cocktails” under the glimmer of BOND’s luxurious chandeliers. Kratena plans to go on a “mini-tour” of The Langham, London’s U.S. sister hotels from March 24th through April 5th, 2014, to present this uniquely crafted cocktail menu. The exclusive menu will only be served at U.S. Langham hotels, and each drink is influenced by four prominent U.S. cities – Boston, Chicago, New York and Pasadena – where the Langham Hospitality Group houses one of their hotels.
Kratena will surely entertain all with his amazing skills, using BOND’s exquisite bar as his grand stage. He will be shaking up specialty drinks, offering useful tips, and showcasing “interactive demonstrations” to his audience. Joonbug has the exclusive cocktail list, and we will share a tiny tidbit with you in celebration of the event: the drink designed especially for ‘London’s sister city,’ Beantown. It is called “Skylines,” and features a flavorful palette of Boston’s very own breathtaking skyline: Aquavit, Fino (dry sherry), bitters, citrus and cedarwood. For the rest of the luscious cocktails, you will just have to attend the event to see!
Kratena is famous for being one of Europe’s most prominent mixologists, getting his start as head bartender of The Langham, London’s Artesian Bar. This extremely gifted artist has put his skills in the cocktail scene to good use, having shared his talent in places across the world, from the Big Apple to Tokyo. Even though Kratena is known for highlighting his genius skills behind the bar, he also writes for lifestyle and drinks magazines, covering the subject matter of cocktails, and educates bartenders across the globe. It is most certainly an honor to welcome this ‘cocktail world’ luminary to Beantown.
