Trendy milkshake and burger joint, Harlem Shake, debuts its very first annual “Miss Harlem Shake” contest. Located in the heart and soul of NYC’s Harlem, this venue calls for all contestants who fit the following protocol: females, ages 18+, who currently reside in the Harlem neighborhood.
Miss Harlem Shake is certainly not your traditional cookie-cutter beauty contest…and funky dance moves are not required when submitting applications! The winner will be a woman who completely deserves to represent this amazing community, serving as poster girl of Harlem Shake. She celebrates and embodies the proud culture of the neighborhood in which she lives. Miss Harlem Shake is a role model to admire and look up to; Miss Harlem Shake is truly the heart and soul of Harlem.
Beginning on the special date of May 16th, the venue’s one year anniversary, applications will be available to fill out in-store or online. Applications will be accepted until June 30th.
Harlem Shake will choose a total of ten lucky semifinalists, and then three top contenders will be picked by customer votes in-store. The restaurant will hold an awards ceremony party on September 13th. A winner will be crowned by a panel of judges comprised of Harlem’s most prominent locals. Some of the notorious judges will include Tony Award-nominated star of Broadway, Brenda Braxton, and beauty expert/acclaimed make-up artist Cynde Watson who has had the awesome experience of working with Gisele Bündchen, Carmen Electra, Queen Latifah and many more. Pop culture blogger and expert, Patrick Riley will be the lively host of this event.
In addition to taking the proud title of “Miss Harlem Shake” and being the one-year poster girl for the restaurant, the winner will walk away with other awesome prizes. One lucky woman will have her headshot framed on Harlem Shake’s Wall of Fame. She will also receive $500 cash, in addition to $1,000 which will be donated to a local non-profit organization of her choice. Last but not least, she will win the ultimate feast: unlimited, delicious, free burgers at Harlem Shake for an entire year.
