Many of us woke up to crummy news this morning. Crumbs news, that is. Today is an incredibly gloomy day for all cupcake enthusiasts, connoisseurs and foodies. According to The Wall Street Journal, beloved Crumbs Bake Shop closed its doors at the end of Monday’s business day. In such a health-conscious society where weekly exercise is the norm and frozen yogurt is the go-to snack “indulgence,” does this mean the beginning of the end of the cupcake trend as we know it?
Decadent, divine and immorally delicious: Crumbs was key to introducing the gourmet cupcake fad to the world. A staple in the industry, this favorite bake shop chain has been there for our good days, bad days and (sinful) sugary indulgences. We could always count on Crumbs for a scrumptious, beautifully decorated snack to brighten up our day. From thePistachio cupcake garnished with crushed pistachios, to Banana Crunch and Girl Scout® Coconut Caramel Cookie, there was a unique cupcake to suit everyone’s palate. Crumbs even had their own version of Chef Dominique Ansel’s cronut, called the Crumbnut (a luscious ‘doughnut-croissant hybrid’).
Crumbs Bake Shop has impacted all of us…leaving behind sweet, sugary, timeless memories for all to savor. Each detail was carefully crafted with love and passion: from the creamy, luscious frosting, to the vibrant sprinkles. We love you Crumbs, and you will forever be in our hearts!
